Opening Day, Schedule, Operating Guidelines

Dear KGRC Members,

Opening Day is less than one week away, and we are so excited to see our Kent Gardens family. With a year of the pandemic under our belts and some easing of restrictions on the horizon, it looks like the 2021 season will be a fun and almost “normal” swim season. Safety is still top priority, so please be sure to read through this entire email and see our updated guidelines on the website.

The Baby Pool will be available for families with children under 6 during team practice times.

With Swim & Dive teams back to competitive meets, there will be some changes to membership swim on home meet days. Be sure to keep an eye on the website and social media for the meet schedule and changes.

What You Can Expect at the Pool:

- Members and staff will continue to follow the local and state laws - wear a mask when on the pool property, stay 6 feet from non-household members on the deck, 10 feet from non-household members in the pool. No masks while swimming.

- Members will check-in at the front desk and will then proceed to the pool deck through the bathhouse. Please exit at the gate by the baby pool. Note that the current  maximum capacity is 130. This is 75% of our regular 173 bather capacity, per current state mandates.

- Bring your KGRC Membership Card for check in every time!*

- Upon check in, each member will be asked about any recent Covid-19 symptoms or exposure.

- Furniture is set out for members to use. Members will wipe or spray down after use with the provided cleaning supplies.

- A lap lane will be set up at all times.

- The basketball hoop  is not available.

- No guests are allowed at this time.

- As always, weather-related closures will be posted on Twitter and KGRC’s website.

Snack Shack:

The Snack Shack will be open! From May 22-June 12, it will be open weekends only. After that, there will be regular hours which will be posted on our website and social media. All items are pre-packaged items (Yes! More Drumsticks!). The Snack Shack accepts credit cards with a $5 minimum purchase.

*Membership Cards:

Make sure to locate your KGRC Membership Card asap! If you need a replacement, contact Kara at [email protected] right away. Also, if you haven’t already, update the following on your membership profile:

          - any children who have turned 11, so they can have their own card,

          - the name of the current nannies/au pairs (and former nannies removed).

Your new membership cards will be waiting for you at the front desk.

As you spend maybe a little more time at the pool this summer, please keep in mind that KGRC aims to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Recycle! There are blue bins on the deck just for recyclables. Also, take advantage of the water bottle filler at the drinking fountain (the only option at the drinking fountain currently) and bring your own water bottle to help reduce plastic waste. If you are dropping off or picking up a child and need to wait a few minutes, be respectful and turn your engine off - no idling in the parking lot.

The Board of Directors is so pleased with these changes and hope that the membership enjoys some of the newer “freedoms.” Our ability to continue to offer more flexible access to the pool depends on each and every member’s commitment to following the remaining safety guidelines, including wearing masks and social distancing. KGRC has a full staff that is completely self-managed now. Staff will be reminding members, when necessary, to follow our continuing safety requirements. We appreciate your support for and patience with the staff in this role.

Like all of you, we hope that things will continue to improve in our local area, but please do keep in mind that everything could change! As we all know by now, the state and local mandates concerning pandemic safety change quickly. The membership will be updated with any changes via email, the website, and social media.

See you at the pool!
