Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL) Dive “A” and Developmental “B” meets allow divers to gain competitive experience and improve their individual performance while supporting their team’s efforts.

“A” meets are NVSL Dive sanctioned meets held on Tuesday nights.  Warm-ups for the home team begin at 4:00 pm, warm-ups for the away team begin at 5:00 pm, and the meet starts at 6 pm.  Rained out meets will be rescheduled at a time that works for both teams.  Teams can enter up to 32 divers across all age groups.  Coaches will determine who will participate in this meet based on eligibility and availability provided for each diver.

  • The top three scores in each age group count toward the final meet points. Meets are scored by event (e.g., Freshman Girls) as follows: 1st place – 5 points, 2nd place – 3 points, 3rd place – 1 point. Meet results determine standings within our division.

“B” meets are typically on Thursday nights. They are designed to give new and developing divers a chance to compete and improve their skills. Coach assisted dives and jumps are allowed. These meets are not NVSL related and ribbons are awarded to every diver.

The Wally Martin Memorial Meet is comprised of a 3 Meter event as well as a Synchro 1 Meter event. We are typically able to sign up for a practice time at Oak Marr REC Center for those divers participating in the 3 Meter competition.  Time will outside of normal practice hours and will be coordinated the week prior to the meet.

  • 3 Meter Event is for any diver interested in competing off the “high dive” (3 meter board). Any diver interested in this meet may speak to the coach. There is a $5 online registration fee per diver for this meet. There are no limitations on the number of divers we are permitted to enter.
  • Synchro Event takes place on the 1 Meter boards.  Pairs can be from any combination of ages (or pools) although must be of the same gender.  Any diver interested in this event may speak to the coaches.

The Cracker Jack Meet cultivates and invites divers of basic developing skills across all age group levels to participate in a once a season meet held under NVSL Diving’s direction. It is the largest developmental meet in the country. The Cracker Jack meet is intended only for divers with basic developing skills. Only divers whose dual meet scores for the current season are all below the qualifier scores may dive in the Cracker Jack meet. There are no limitations on the number of divers we are permitted to enter. Coach assisted dives are allowed in this meet, as well as a front or back jump.  All divers receive a box of Crackerjacks after competing.  Divers participating in this meet are not eligible to compete in the Divisional meet.

NVSL Division Individual Championships (Divisionals) is between the 6 teams in the division.  Each team is allowed to bring up to 16 divers across all age groups. The Coaches will determine who should dive in this meet.  One additional practice will be scheduled at the host pool for divers competing in Divisionals.  This practice will be outside of normal practice hours will be coordinated the week prior to the meet.

  • Divers who place in the top 3 will advance to the All Star Meet.  A diver may also advance to the All-Star meet by attaining a certain score in this meet (which is published at the beginning of the season).  Also, if a diver finishes as an alternate in Divisionals and was in the top 8 finishers in the previous year’s All-Star meet, they are eligible to dive in this year’s All-Star Meet.

NVSL All Star Individual Championships (All Stars) is for divers who qualified at each of the Division Individual Championship meets (across all 8 divisions).  The top divers in each age category or who have qualified by score will qualify for this meet.  One additional practice will be scheduled at the host pool for divers competing in All Stars.  This practice will be outside of normal practice hours will be coordinated the week prior to the meet.
